Don Atkinson Trucking was established in 1981 by Bill and Sherri Harris, Jordan Falls, Nova Scotia.
Initially, the company was licensed to transport boats. Twenty-five years later Don Atkinson Trucking transports boats coast-to-coast throughout North America and has developed into a well established business.
Self-loading 53' trailers, four powerful trucks and an experienced, capable crew are the winning combination that has brought great success to the company.
In April 2005 Don Atkinson Trucking expanded its operations by opening Seaway Fabrications - a foundry and machine shop. This new enterprise compliments the existing business and will bring new growth and success.
Don Atkinson Trucking and Seaway Fabrications offer specialized transportation and repair services to the boat building and fishing industry.

In the early stages of business, Don Atkinson Trucking was licensed to transport boats at the local level due to regulation within the industry. But once deregulation was in place, it opened up market potential. At this same time the quality of Canada's Atlantic boat building industry had improved and so did the demand, creating a substantial market for transporting boats. Soon the company took flight to other provinces, then onto the U.S. and eventually the international market.
Throughout the past 25 years Don Atkinson Trucking has diversified their services to accommodate transportation of other types of product.
Trucks have been modified to hold large tanks built by Legay Fibre Glass (Waverley, Nova Scotia) for the Lepreau Nuclear Plant in New Brunswick. Quartz has been shipped for Black Bull Mining using a tri-axle dump container. The company has even moved houses and cottages, as well as a historical church in Clark's Harbour, south west Nova Scotia.
The mainstream product of transport remains to be boats of every kind. From commercial fishing vessels to fine crafted racing yachts, catamarans to Coast Guard vessels - Don Atkinson Trucking has successfully secured a place in this unique industry.
The company is cargo claim free and looks forward to future prospects and continued success. Innovative thinking and the ability to diverse keeps Don Atkinson Trucking one of the best.
